Today was disembarkation in Tokyo. We'd been given the choice of times to disembark and provided with coloured luggage tags and we were called to the gangway by colour and the whole process was seamless. We were in no rush as our domestic flight back to Osaka wasn't until 2 pm.
We thought we'd share some information about our cruise experience along with few photos. Silversea are classed as a luxury cruise line and the Silver Nova had its maiden voyage 18 months ago so its still very new. Amongst its innovations is the use of electric batteries which are charged when moving in order to supply all power needs when in port, thus reducing its total emissions.
Being a small ship enables access to smaller ports, which most of them on this cruise were. At each port Silversea offer not only included shore excursions, but also a regular shuttle bus service into the nearest town centre.

The crew were amazing with 720 guests and 700 crew, so service was excellent. By the second evening the guy who allocates tables in the main dining venue, and the maitre d' addressed us by name before asking our suite number, and the waiter at the bar on the top deck where we had afternoon cocktails would just ask if we wanted our usual.
Every suite has a butler but we couldn't bring ourselves to make full use of him so he would keep bringing us drink and snacks that we didn't ask for. One of the passengers mentioned that he enjoyed 12 year old malt whiskey and the next day a bottle appeared in his suite. Our butler saw Sue taking a bag of dirty laundry down to the laundrette (there was one on each deck) and he offered to take it for her, but Sue couldn't bring herself to accept.
We were worried that there would be limited options of vegetarian food but we were pleasantly surprised how good it was and the maitre d' reassured us that we could ask for whatever we wanted. The Marquee Restaurant was open air on the top deck and one lunchtime we planned to eat there but when we arrived it was much colder than we realised. We were about to leave when we were shown to a table with an overhead heater and given blankets to wear.
The entertainment wasn't entirely to our taste but most evenings th Silver Nova Band would play cool jazz in one of the lounges. In South Korea a local group of traditional musicians and dancers performed in the theatre as did a Japanese juggler who was stunning.
