Bardia National Park, Nepal 15th November 2022

Today was our final day in Bardia before flying back to Kathmandu for a few days.  We didn't really see a tiger up close but Paul got a glimpse of one crossing the river in the distance.  The best time of year for seeing tigers is April/May when it's hot and the tigers cool off at waterholes or river.  We'll have to come back!  But we saw a lot of wildlife including 3 leopards, monkeys, deer etc.

You remember the close encounter we had with the big male elephant in Chitwan National Park?  You would have thought the chance of that happening again would be slim.  You'd be mistaken.  The evening before last we were following a leopard and time ran away with us so we had to hurry to the gate and we came upon 3 jeeps driving backwards towards us, signalling for us to do the same and sure enough a big male elephant came into view on our path.  It was dusk and eventually our driver managed to turn the jeep around but one of the other 3 jeeps decided to reverse down a steep bank.  It was obvious that he wasn't going to be able to get out so all the guides had to go and push.  By this time it's completely dark.  The jeep wouldn't start because the exhaust pipe was bent and some hammering took place before we were all able to drive away.  Never a dull moment.

Hi both,
Just catching up on your adventures. It looks absolutely fantastic - I'm amazed at how much you've done already and you've barely scratched the surface of your world tour. Hope you continue to have a wonderful time. Take care.
