We've had two full days in Jodhpur, the blue city. Although not as blue as you might expect as many of the buildings in the old city are now either white or pink. We stayed in a 500 year old Haveli in the old city, where the lanes are so narrow that they can only be accessed by motorcycles and tuktuks. The location was perfect being right under the walls of Mehrengarh Fort (yet another fort!) and the first photo is from the rooftop.
We spent a day exploring the Fort and associated museum and the next day got a tuktuk round some of the other sights: Desert Rock Park the other side of the Fort with walking trails, Jaswant Thada (the white marble building in the photos) which is a memorial for the royal Mewar family, Mandore Gardens which housed a nice temple complex and finally the clock tower which was difficult to photograph due to the heaving traffic and pedestrian chaos.
It's still cold here in Rajasthan in the morning and evening but thankfully warm during the day. We hadn't expected to be wearing our cold weather clothes in India but jolly glad we had them.
Next stop will be Jaipur, the pink city, so we'll catch up with you there.
