Chiang Mai, Thailand 29th January 2023

On Friday we both went to Lila's Massage Spa; Paul had a Thai massage and Sue had an aloe vera body massage.  Lila's is a unique Spa in that all the therapists are ex-offenders from Chiang Mai correctional facility where they are taught their skills and offered employment upon release.

Yesterday we re-visited Elephant Nature Park for the day.  This is somewhere that we have been twice in the past and have seen a massive expansion over a period of around 20 years.  On our first visit there were approximately 20 rescued working elephants that had suffered abuse and subsequent injury, and who are now living a free and well-cared for life.  On this visit there are now 116 elephants, 600 dogs and over 1000 cats as well as buffalo, cattle, goats etc, or any creature who happens to wander in.  They have a policy that if an animal is hungry or injured, it will be fed and looked after.  It was a joyful experience (and they also provide an excellent vegetarian buffet lunch).

Today we are leaving Chiang Mai and headed for Sumatra where we are doing two weeks' volunteer work for a conservation project in the rainforest, and so we're unsure whether there will be any Wi-Fi.  So please don't be concerned if there are no further updates to the website for the next couple of weeks.

The photos from the Elephant Nature Park are wonderful. It is good to know the elephants and other animals, now have a peaceful life and are well cared for.
All our love to you both. xx
