Cruise/Maui, Hawaii. 12th May 2023

We returned to Maui for another two days.  On the first day we walked, mainly around the historical old city of Lahaina (although the buildings don't look particularly historic).  There's a small park with a very impressive Banyan tree which has rooted itself in many places and now covers the whole park.  Lahaina is a beautiful town and we really enjoyed it.

The second day we got a local bus to Whalers Village and walked to the nearby Kaanapali Beach which is three miles long and very lovely.  Unfortunately the only shade was one large tree so most people, including us, were huddled together here whilst a few brave souls roasted in the sun.  Paul went out for a snorkel but there wasn't much to see and Sue just had a swim near the shore.  There was a strong undertow and we saw one lady get sucked under the waves and had to be hauled out by four people.  Another old chap had to crawl out on his hands and knees (almost leaving his swimming shorts behind!).

We both agreed that Maui is somewhere we could have spent more time.  But the cruise ship moves on and we're off to Hawaii Island (aka Big Island) tomorrow.

Did we say - Hawaiian sunsets are a sight to behold.
