Vancouver, Canada. 24th May 2023

We've had a couple of days in Vancouver between cruises (we are embarking on a three day cruise up to Alaska later today, and then an overland trip around Alaska before we head south to the national parks in the US).  This is our second time in Vancouver; last time was several years ago and we had persistent rain for the whole time we were here.  It's been better this time with some sunshine but not overly warm.

As we had time to kill from disembarking the previous cruise and being able to check in to our Airbnb apartment, we stored our luggage at the cruise terminal for the day and hopped on the Hop On Hop Off bus which takes around 90 minutes to do a circuit around Vancouver.  We stopped off for lunch at Granville Island, an artsy area with good food options, before getting back on the bus.  We've also done a fair bit of walking around the city and went back to Granville Island on our second day for a more in-depth look around and using the Aquabus to hop across from where we're staying.  The steam clock in Gastown is one of the "must see" sights in Vancouver and puts on a performance on the hour which we managed to catch on video.  Paul was underwhelmed by it.

As you can see from the photos, the 36th floor apartment has a fabulous location overlooking False Creek where the ferries and Aquabuses are constantly back and forth.

NB The photos of harbour seals were taken on a whale watching trip from Victoria, Vancouver island, where these were the only wildlife we saw - not a single whale in sight!

It was interesting to read your cruising reflections. The Led Zeppelin rendition made me chuckle! Fab photos of Vancouver xx

I bet it was a real treat to go exploring again after your 30 days at sea!
Lovely photos once again. You do have wonderful views from your apartment. What a shame you didn’t get to see any whales on the whale watching trip. All our love. xx
